Spatter Shield

MAINTENANCE

1. Only use fluid and spare parts specifically designed and recommended by Spatter Shield [www.spattershield.co.uk], part of Ian Hamilton Engineering. Using unauthorised fluid, parts or modifying the Dispenser in
any way can cause severe damage and create a dangerous situation, voiding your warranty.
2. Do NOT overfill the Canister or operate when the Canister is empty & ONLY refill 300mls maximum.
3. To refill the Canister, carefully unscrew the Probe from the Canister and refill with Spatter Shield fluid to the maximum level marked on the Canister, (300mls maximum.)
4. To fit the Canister to the Probe, line up the Probe to the centre opening of the Canister and foam bubble breaker, and then carefully push the stem of the Probe
through the foam bubble breaker. Then firmly screw the Probe to the Canister.
5. Keep the fluid level above the minimum line marked on the Canister.
6. With the plunger in the UP position and before each start up, purge the Dispenser
to fill the lines and Canister with gas. This will ensure porosity free welds.
7. If the unit is set to high mist concentrations, with the plunger in the DOWN position
purge the gas lines with shielding gas at max flow (40 litres/min.) regularly
8. Regularly inspect Dispenser, gas lines and connections ensuring that they are
tight and free from leaks. Repair or replace any worn or suspect parts.
9. To ensure the safety relief valve is not clogged and for continued safe operation, it is strongly recommended that when refilling the Canister, the safety relief valve be checked by lifting or pressing the valve from the inside.
10. Drain canister and clean, replacing with new fluid if left standing for excessive periods.
